Open Networking Foundation (ONF) will be exhibiting at Mobile World Congress in San Francisco on September 12-14. Contributing to our large presence at the show, partners and collaborators, such as Cavium, Inc., Deutsche Telekom, Intel Labs, Lime Microsystems, Netsia and Radisys, plan to showcase their next-generation CORD solutions. Below, Rüdiger Kunze – Head of Standardization Services at Deutsche Telekom – provides a sneak peek into its interactive MWC demonstration.

Deutsche Telekom (DT) is one of the world's leading integrated telecommunications companies and provides fixed-network/broadband, mobile communications, Internet, and IPTV products and services for consumers, and information and communication technology (ICT) solutions for business and corporate customers.

What excites you about being part of the CORD ecosystem?

We see a huge benefit in community driven approaches like CORD, based on open source developments. The possibility to separate hardware from software allows a more flexible and agile way of service development and operation.

What are you showcasing at MWC?

DT will demonstrate Multi-Access CORD, delivering hybrid access services (both wireless and wired) from a single CORD POD. We believe in fixed mobile convergence (FMC) and the CORD platform offers a great opportunity to converge fixed and mobile access and services.

Why should people come see the demo?

Our demo is a prototype implementation of Multi-Access CORD and can be seen as a blueprint to realize FMC, especially with focus on leveraging SDN/NFV concepts for 5G.

What do you hope people will learn about your company and CORD?

With our Multi-Access CORD demo, we plan to demonstrate that DT is one of the innovation leaders engaged in the ONF/CORD community. We leverage, contribute to, and drive softwarization in telco development and operations with the aim to be able to use this approach for future network deployments.

To walk through Deutsche Telekom's hands-on technical demonstration, visit Hall North Stand N.332 from September 12-14, 2017. We look forward to seeing you there!
