Raj Savoor 150x150 pngONF is continuing its journey to move telecom operators and enterprises into the future with open source touching areas such as broadband access, telecom core, and the radio access network (RAN). This week we are pleased to introduce our newest board member, Raj Savoor, who serves as Vice President of Network Analytics and Automation at AT&T.

“I am excited to represent AT&T as a member of the ONF Board where we will continue to drive critical open-source projects and work with an impressive roster of operators and vendors; a growing consortium of research universities; and an ever-expanding ecosystem of companies that support and can benefit from ONF’s open-source initiatives,” said Raj Savoor.

Raj has an expansive background and expertise with a 30+ year career in the telecom industry. He has worked extensively across multiple wireline access technologies from ADSL to GPON, as well as key wireless network technology introductions including LTE, VoLTE and now, 5G.

At AT&T, Raj is responsible for the analytics and automation of AT&T’s wireless and wireline broadband networks which is critical to the company’s Consumer, Enterprise, IoT, and Government services. Raj and his team support both operations and product teams across business units on both tactical and strategic initiatives including integrated access network planning, performance capacity analytics, key software-defined networking-based automation initiatives and Open RAN architectures. Raj also oversees AT&T’s 5G Innovation Studio where researchers and engineers work with customers and industry collaborators to ideate, test and validate new 5G-centric applications.

“ONF is really pleased to welcome Raj to the board,” said Timon Sloane, ONF’s General Manager. “Raj’s background and his team at AT&T are very well aligned with ONF’s mission and portfolio of activities, and he’s already begun to have an impact - for example by helping to launch a sustainable RAN initiative with a consortium of aligned operators and vendors together demonstrating what can be achieved through holistic ML-driven end-to-end power optimization for mobile networks.”
