In November 2019, Open Networking Foundation (ONF) ambassadors Zufar Dhiyaulhaq and Aris Risdianto participated in 2019 Indonesia Open Infrastructure Day in Surabaya - Indonesia.

This event was organized by multiple open-source organizations in Indonesia, organizations including OpenStack Indonesia, Kubernetes Indonesia, Open Networking Indonesia, Surabaya Linux Community, Gimpscape Indonesia, and Indonesia Developers Community. The event was sponsored by Biznet Gio, Mellanox, OpenStack Foundation, and Bank BRI. In addition, it had several additional sponsors and support from local companies and developer groups.

Over five hundred participants from different backgrounds attended the event. It covered a wide-range of network-related topics such as Cloud Computing, Cloud Native, DevOps, Security, and Software-Defined Networking.

Zufar delivered a talk about SONA (SDN based OpenStack Networking) during the breakout session. He introduced the Open Networking Foundation, the concept of Software Defined Networking, ONOS, and the SONA Project to integrate ONOS and OpenStack. His presentation included a short demo of SONA.

Aris participated as a panelist at the end of the event with the other panelists from companies and communities, including Giri Kuncoro, one of the CNCF Ambassadors. The panel focused on how communities and industries/businesses work together to accelerate the adoption of open-source-based ICT infrastructure in Indonesia.
