InteropNet OpenFlow Lab [VIDEO]

May 30, 2012

Last week, Marc Cohn shared some great insights from Interop Las Vegas 2012, including the growing momentum of SDN and OpenFlow. As a follow up to that post, I wanted to touch on the OpenFlow® InteropNet Lab, as it was a clear demonstration of the progress that has been made over the last year by ONF and member companies.

The lab showcased many OpenFlow-based products interoperating with each other to demonstrate SDN in action. The interoperability experiments from vendors such as BigSwitch Networks, Broadcom, Brocade, Extreme Networks, HP, IBM, Ixia, NEC, Netgear, Spirent, and Vello Systems created a buzz about OpenFlow® in a variety of scenarios. By demonstrating OpenFlow® for multiple uses, these member companies not only showed that the technology has moved out of the research phase and into commercial reality, they were also able to educate attendees on the principles, functions, and features of OpenFlow® in real-world environments.

If you weren’t able to attend the event, check out this quick video from the show floor for a brief snapshot of the InteropNet OpenFlow® Lab:

ONF OpenFlow® Lab at Interop 2012

2012 continues to be an exciting year for OpenFlow, SDN, and ONF with more deployments, trials, lab investigations, interoperable demos, and partnering projects. Next up, we are headed to Japan for Interop Tokyo where ONF will describe how we are leading the way to a new networking generation.
