Open Networking Foundation Executive Director to Present at Summer 2012 ESCC/Internet2 Joint Techs

ONF to Discuss the Commercialization of SDN and OpenFlow; Innovating in Technology and Standardization for User Benefit

Palo Alto, Calif. – July 17, 2012

WHO: The Open Networking Foundation (ONF) Executive Director Dan Pitt will present a session entitled, "The Open Networking Foundation: Innovating in Technology and Standardization for User Benefit" at the ESCC/Internet2 Joint Techs event.

WHEN: The session will be presented on July 17, 2012 at 10:40 -11:00 a.m. PDT.

WHERE: The presentation will be held at the Li Ka Shing Conference Center at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California.

WHAT: During the session, Pitt will discuss the growing demand for Software-Defined Networking (SDN), and how OpenFlow-based SDN represents a revolutionary change in networking. The talk will also discuss the ONF, OpenFlow® standards, and how enabling networks to be programmed like computers brings users and operators benefits that were never before thought possible. ESnet and the ESnet Coordinating Committee (ESCC) provide the high-bandwidth, reliable connections that link scientists at national laboratories, universities and other research institutions, enabling them to collaborate on some of the world's most important scientific challenges.
