Open Networking Foundation to Co-Host Layer 123 Cloud-Net Summit

Executive Director Dan Pitt to Deliver Keynote Address
Member Companies to Conduct OpenFlow® Workshop and Present ONF Working Group Reports

WHO: The Open Networking Foundation(ONF) will take center stage as the co-host of the Layer123 Cloud-Net Summit.

ONF Executive Director Dan Pitt will deliver the keynote address, and senior representative Foundation members Gerry Feeney, Zoltán Lajos Kis, Jürgen Quittek, Alvaro Retana, and Rakesh Saha are each slated to speak on a variety of topics ranging from an introduction to OpenFlow® to updates on the current status of ONF Working Groups.

WHEN: Layer 123 Cloud-Net Summit will be held March 12 through 14, 2012.

WHAT: Throughout the event, members of ONF will share their networking vision with influential leaders and activists from Europe's principal carriers and technology organizations. ONF speaking engagements will provide attendees with the opportunity to discover the value of OpenFlow® in carrier cloud businesses, and to discuss the potential of Software Defined Networking (SDN) as a transformational approach to carrier networking challenges.     Alvaro Retana of Hewlett-Packard, Gerry Feeney of NEC Europe, and Rakesh Saha of IBM will discuss the future of networking, the benefits of SDN, the vision of ONF, the current status of OpenFlow, and the future application and use cases of the standard.
  • Co-Host Welcome Address

    Dan Pitt of ONF will welcome conference attendees and provide a brief introduction to ONF.

    Dan Pitt of ONF will share why SDN is the new norm for networks and how ONF is enabling the development and delivery of new architectures, standards, software, and applications.

    Jürgen Quittek of NEC Europe will discuss the current status of the following ONF Working Groups: Configuration & Management, Testing & Interoperability, and Hybrid Programmable Forwarding Plane.

    Time: 2:45 – 2:55 p.m. (GMT)
    Zoltán Lajos Kis of Ericsson will discuss the current status of ONF's Extensibility Working Group, which is responsible for the mainline OpenFlow® protocol.
