Open Networking Foundation to Hold First Industry AppFest

New AppFest Event to Encourage the Development and Testing of Open SDN Applications

Palo Alto, Calif. – March 24, 2015

WHAT: The Open Networking Foundation (ONF) has announced the first industry AppFest to encourage the development and testing of open SDN applications. ONF AppFest 2015 is facilitated by ONF’s Testing and Interoperability Group. As a group, Testing and Interoperability is dedicated to increasing interoperability, driving certification, and benchmarking the performance of open SDN infrastructure, in this case based on the OpenFlow® protocol, as the open, vendor-neutral southbound standard. ONF’s AppFest is also supported by the Software Leadership Council, a group of industry luminaries who guide ONF’s open source software programs and online community development. ONF AppFest 2015 will encourage the development, testing, and implementation of SDN applications running on such an infrastructure. Vendors will have the opportunity to test new controllers and switches as well as OpenFlow® v1.3. In addition, attendees will be able to interact and gain familiarity with other applications and open source projects sponsored by ONF and OpenSourceSDN.org, ONF’s recently launched open source software community and code repository.

WHO: ONF AppFest attendees will include ONF members and non-member companies, from vendors to network operators, who are interested in the development of open SDN applications as well as testing their OpenFlow-based infrastructure components. All will receive early exposure to products supporting OpenFlow® v1.3.

WHEN: ONF AppFest 2015 will take place May 18 – 22, 2015.

WHERE: ONF AppFest 2015 will be held at the Ericsson offices, located at 200 Holger Way, San Jose, Calif. 95134.
