Saurav Das – Principal System Architect, ONF

saurav dasSaurav Das was part of the original team at Stanford that made SDN popular. His pioneering research on SDN in WANs generated great interest in the industry among vendors and operators alike. His research proposed, demonstrated and analyzed a converged IP/MPLS/Optical WAN architecturally based on SDN and OpenFlow.

After Stanford, he joined Big Switch Networks and investigated controller platform scalability in large data center networks. More recently, he served as the project-lead for an open-source project at the ONF, which aimed to demonstrate SDN control of Segment Routers built on white-boxes. He is currently the Principal System Architect at the ONF.

Before Stanford, he spent several years in the networking industry designing optical systems at Enablence. He holds an MS in Optical Sciences from the University of Arizona, Tucson and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.
