MENLO PARK, Calif., June 1, 2022 —The Open Networking Foundation (ONF) today announced continued momentum for its open source AetherTM private 5G platform, with Kajeet announcing it will leverage Aether to build their own private 5G Networks-as-a-Service offering. The Kajeet solution provides a cloud-based platform providing enterprises Private LTE and 5G, both indoor and outdoor, with seamless mobility between public and private cellular networks, as a turnkey cloud-managed Network-as-a-Service.
ONF has deployed and demonstrated the capabilities of Aether at multiple global sites in concert with its leading vendor and carrier partners. Since its introduction in 2020, Aether has achieved a number of significant milestones, including:
- Selected as foundation for the $30M DARPA Pronto project for building secure 5G
- Deployed in an ongoing outdoor 4G/5G field trial with Deutsche Telekom in Berlin
- Deployed in over 15 edge site locations, operating 7x24 and delivering production-grade performance and uptime
